Q & A

Frequently asked questions and answers:
What is Airbrush tanning?

It is a process in which we will use an airbrush tanning machine to apply a DHA enhanced solution to your entire body. Because a professional makeup artist is applying the solution to your skin we can ensure that the solution will be applied evenly.

How is it different than using self-tanning creams and lotions?

Self-tanning creams and lotions can streak or give an uneven coloring- heavier in some spots than others- or even turn your palms orange, just from self-application! With airbrush tanning, you get an even, natural look that simply cannot be achieved at home....it's the only way to go if you want a glistening "just from the beach glow".

What's in the Airbrush tanning solution?

What are the key components in the solution?

* DHA- dihydroxyacetone (derived from sugar cane, this is the active ingredient in most sunless tanning products). It works with the proteins and amino acids in the top layers of your skin to change the color.

* Bronzer- an instant coloring agent

* Moisturizers- our tanning solutions contain a luxurious blend of Aloe Vera, plus vitamins A & E, which serve to hydrate and comfort your skin. Our solutions are alcohol free.

Does the solution have an odor?

Our top-quality sunless tanning products have virtually no odor whatsoever. However, some people's skin reacts with DHA differently and you may detect a smell that is often associated with sunless tanning. It goes away quickly and is not offensive- it is simply a natural processing of the DHA with your body.

Will it stain my clothes?

Our solution has the potential to transfer to your clothing. We recommend that you wear loose fitting, dark colored, cotton clothing after your airbrush experience, to minimize any color transfer. The solution will come out of most fabrics...we recommend that you stay away from wearing leather, nylon, lycra and your extremely fine silk washables!

How long is the Airbrush tanning session?

The application process takes differs from person to person. We inform our clients that the actual process takes 15-20 minutes and 10 minutes to dry.

How long will my tan last?

It depends on what the client does once they leave our office and which solution you choose....if you follow the after-tanning instructions our clients will generally have their tan for about a week...sometimes longer!

Is Airbrush tanning safe? Will I have an allergic reaction?

Airbrush tanning is completely safe. Derived from sugar cane, the active ingredient called DHA (dihydroxyacetone) has been approved by the FDA for over 30 years (it was approved in 1973). However, if you have hyper-sensitive skin conditions or if you are allergic to sunless tanning products, please proceed with caution and consult your physician prior to using this or any other sunless tanning product. We are proud that there have been very few records of reaction to our solutions (less than 5%), and we wish everyone a great experience.

I have fair skin and have never been able to tan...will Airbrush tanning work for me?

YES! This is why sunless tanning is so great for those who cannot tolerate the UV rays at the beach or in the beds. You will be SURPRISED that you will have an even, lustrous glow! Because there are no toxic chemicals and no harmful UV rays, this system is especially conducive for those of us with fair skin that easily burns otherwise.

If I do Airbrush tanning, can I also use a tanning bed or go in the sun?

Of course! There is nothing in our tanning solution that prevents you from using a tanning bed or going in the sun. Please remember that our solution does not, in any way, protect you from UV Rays. You MUST use proper skin protection in the sun. Also, if you plan on using a tanning bed and our solutions on the same day, we recommend using the tanning bed first.
